2021 Beauty Favorites

If I hardly ever wore a full face of makeup before covid, the fact that I had to wear a mask everyday at work made me wear even less face products and lipstick to focus on eye makeup. So 2021 was the year of one and done shadows and tinted lip balms. I used three different concealers and a few different eye shadows, as well as tinted lip balms.

My eyeliner of choice has been the Nyx Epic Ink Liner for years now. It is an affordable brush tip eyeliner that I find long lasting and easy to use. For mascara, I'm a big fan of the Lancôme Monsieur Big mascara. When I want a drugstore option, I grab the Nyx Worth the Hype or the Essence Lash Princess (Purple) mascaras.

For the face, I started the year with the cult Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. I also used the Catrice Liquid Camouflage concealer, which has been in y stash for years. Later in the year I grabbed Charlotte Tilbury's The Retoucher which I have been loving lately. I use it under my eyes and dot it around my face where I want a bit of coverage. It's nice and hydrating and gives a light natural coverage which is exactly what I look for in a concealer.

During summer, I used the Avène Soleil B-Protect SPF50+ which is a tinted sunscreen. I reviewed it in this post with other sunscreens that I like.

For eyes, the Lorac Unzipped palette was probably my most used palette of the year. The cool toned neutrals it contains are just perfect for my skin tone. The shade unattainable is the one with he biggest dent in it. It's a beautiful rosy bronze that I can't get enough of. The Revlon That's a Dub quad was also a favorite for easy neutrals. I also used a lot of single pot shadows: The Armani Eyes to Kill in 5 Stellar, Color Pop Super Shock Shadow in koosh and the Mina cream shadow in 532 bronze. These were all go-tos when I got ready in the morning before work as they can be smudged on with fingers.

My lip products of choice were the Pixi Vitamin C lip balm which a nice an peachy color to the lips. The La Neige Lip Sleeping Mask and the Clarins Hydra-Essential lip balm were my night time options. The Labello Classic balm was pretty much always in my purse. I also discovered the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Balms. The shade Dare to Bare is the perfect rosy nude for me, but I also like Secret Kiss. Nudissimo, on the other hand, was a little too light for my liking.
