The best of mauve eyeshadows

Lately there's something I've been craving make up wise and this thing is purple tones! I can't get enough. A few weeks ago I wrote about a few autumnal lipstick shades, it is now time for eyeshadows. As I dont' really wear bright purple or full on berry colors on my eyelids I went for a selection of my favorite mauve eyeshadows, from palettes to singles without forgetting bases. Some lean a little more toward the taupe side of the spectrum, some a quite warm, there's something for every taste!

Palettes:

Urban Decay Naked 3 is of course on the list, as well as its cheaper L'Oréal counterpart, La Palette Nuse in Rosé. UD's Shadow Book also contains a few purple shadows among which a very bright one for night outs or for days when you're feeling adventurous. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette has a nice selection of shades, especially Champagne Truffle, a pale mauve which looks amazing worn with Cherry Cordial in the crease. The Too faced Romantic Eye Palette's middle row helps you achieving that soft purple look in no time (it might be limited edition, although I bought mine on amazon not too long ago), as does Tarte's Tartelette Palette.

Singles:

If you're looking for a mauve shadow in single form, there's no need to look very far as there are plenty of drugstore priced options out there. The cheaper one is probably the Essence Eyeshadow in 10 Dance Mauve. Close behind come the Catrice Absolute Eye Color in 560 I like to Mauve It and 900 Li-la Bamba (which is more purple and has more glitter in it). L'Oréal also has two beautiful mauve offerings the Infallible Shadow in Flashback silver and the Color Riche l'Ombre Pure in Café Saint Germain, which are both very creamy and a dream to apply. This isn' technically a single, but the Wet'n'Wild Color Icon Silent Treatment trio has a very nice and affordable mauve. Lastly the Kiko Water Shadow in 202 (a warm purple taupe) and 227 (a pale mauve) have a beautiful texture and are great used together and on their own.

Bases:

Finally, there are two products that I like to use underneath some of these eyeshadows to bring out the purple tones even more: it is the Astor  24h Perfect Stay Eye Shadow + Liner in Sweet Lavender and the Kiko Long Lasting Stick in 36.

The Autumn Lip: Mac Plumful alternatives (and a dupe)

From top to bottom: Mac Plumful, Topshop Lovestruck, Revlon Ultimate Suede in Preview, Kiko Utlra Glossy Stylo in 813 (Apple Blossoms), Bourjois Color Boost in Plum Russian, Marc Jacobs Lip Vinyl in Kissability

When Autumn comes about, time has come for beauty bloggers to list their favorite lip colors for Fall and a recurrent appearance on these lists is Mac Plumful. And while Plumful is a beautiful lipstick that I like to dig out every September, I have complied a selection of alternatives and have even found a dupe in the process! These are almost exclusively drugstore priced products and offer the same sheer mauvy-berry hue that is so appreciated in Plumful.

Here are my picks:

  • Topshop lovestruck: I'm so glad to have found this lipstick as it is truly the closest dupe i have found for Plumful. Beautiful color, beautiful finish: a must have!
  • Revlon Ultimate Suede lipstick in Preview: Although this one has a very weird formula (glossy at first, then it sets like a liquid lipstick), I still find myself going back to this color as it is extremely flattering and not too vampy.
  • Kiko Ultra Glossy Stylo in 813: The Glossy Stylo from Kiko are one of my ultimate favorite line of lipsticks out there. The shade 813 is quite light, but still gives that effortless Autumn vibe to your look. Plus it's super moisturizing. Bonus!
  • Bourjois Color Boost In Plum Russian: While being a bit richer and darker than Plumful (but still very close), Plum Russian is also a very good alternative and it will give you that sheer but buildable raspberry color for a fraction of the price!
  • Marc Jacobs Lip Vinyl in Kissability: This is not so much an alternative as more of a little "something extra" that would nicely sit on top on any of these lipsticks and looks super pretty on its one.
What is your must-have lip color for Fall? Let me know in the comments! :-)

Best products of 2014 / All time faves

I'm aware this is a very belated favorite post, but I've been busy with uni and took a break from blogging these past few weeks. Anyway; here they are:

Face: Rimmel Match Perfection foundation and stay matte powder. Erborian BB cream. Bourjois Healthy Mix concealer. Bare Minerals powder foundation. Milani blush in Luminoso.

These are everyday my everyday basics I know I can rely on to achieve the coverage I need.

Eyes:  The Balm Balm Voyage palette. Smashbox Full Exposure palette. Dior palette from last Christmas collection (I think it's called Golden Snow). L'Oreal single shadow in Golden Nude. Nars Pro Prime eyeshadow base.

L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara. Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara. Too Faced Bette Than Sex mascara. Max Factor nude eyeliner. Maybelline Master Precise and Master Graphic liquid liners.

As you may already know, I am a palette junkie. The Balm's palette has been on my desk for the most part of the year and the Dior one is the perfect neutral palette. They both have amazing pigmentation, just like the l'Oreal's new single shadows, wish are so buttery! The Nars primer is amazing, I can't recommend it enough if you're dealing with creasing eyeshadows.

Lips: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Personne ne rouge!. Rimmel Color Rush in On Fire. Maybelline lip pencil in Perfect Red (?). NYX Butter Gloss. L'Oreal J.Lo's nude. The Body Shop Color Crush sheer lipstick in 14. Seventeen lipstick in Barely Blush. Nars sheer lipstick in Damage.

Lip products are another one of my many weaknesses. If I had to pick one real stand-out product, it would be the Bourgeois liquid lipstick, as it surpasses every single long lasting lipstick I have ever tried! The Body Shop lipstick was  certainly my summer go-to lippie. It has a sheer but buildable formula and the fuchsia shade looks really fresh during warmer month. The Nars lipstick is very similar in formula, except it's more of a autumnal, berry color.
