One Minute Bliss: No feeling is permanent

One Minute Bliss is a blog post series where every Monday I share one small thing that brings me joy. You can find the other posts here.

"No feeling is permanent". It's a sentence I heard in of of Adriene's amazing videos and I've found it really helpful in times of stress or anxiety. It helps me navigate difficult emotions and reminds me that time is the best medicine. No matter how sad, anxious or lost you feel, these feelings aren't going to last. Trust that you will get over them.

One Minute Bliss : Yoga with Adriene monthly calendars

Yoga with Adriene / Youtube

One Minute Bliss is a blog post series where every Monday I share one small thing that brings me joy. You can find the other posts here.

If you're not familiar with Adriene and her awesome youtube channel dedicated to all things yoga and well-being, you are missing out! I've been a huge fan of her videos for the past year and couldn't recommend them more to anyone who's looking to add yoga into their daily life. She even creates free monthly calendars. It takes a few minutes to print it and pin it on your wall, providing a little reminded to take time for yourself and for your body every day. Namaste!

Powder lipsticks

Powder lipsticks aren't a brand new concept. L'Oréal released lip powders a few years ago and Dior had Kohl lipstick in their Holiday 2017 collection. However it seems like they're having a moment lately as a lot of high end and affordable brands have recently released powdery lipstick formulas. These are meant to be super matte and velvety on the lips, like you've actually powdered your lips. I've put three formulas to the test, two drugstore and two high end, here is what I think of them:

Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder: This formula reminds me a lot of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks. They have a thick silicony texture that hugs the lips and has a blurring effect, which I love. However, if what you want is a sharp lip line, these are not for you (or you'll need a lip liner). Also, if your going to be investing in one of these, I suggest picking a bold shade as the lighter shades are sheer and look slightly uneven on the lips. Not worth the money.

Mac Powder Kiss lipsticks: These are buildable, which is nice because it gives you the ability to from day to night with a single product. They glide on the lips and aren't as drying as MAC's Retro matte formula. They last well on the lips. I'd totally recommend these!

Nyx Powder Puff lipsticks: These are a nice wallet-friendly alternative to the Chanel Liquid Powders.  The shade rage is fun and colorful (and it has just been expanded). The application is surprisingly easy and neat considering the format of the applicator. They're not super long lasting, but we'll forgive them that considering the price tag.

Maybelline Color Sensational Powder Matte lipsticks: This formula is bulletproof! It is super matte and almost looks like a liquid lipstick on, without the dryness and flakiness. My only issue with these is that there are only four shades available in Switzerland! Why?

Suit up!

I've been obsessed with suits for a while and my collection is slowly growing. I've recently rewatched How I Met Your Mother and Barney really cracks me up! I love the musical inspired scene where they all sing "Nothing suits me like suit". Not to mention Taylor Swift's music video "Me!". Hello pastel suits and colorful briefcases. I could seriously wear nothing but pastel suits for the rest of my life. Maybe I'm slowly turning into a female hybrid of Taylor Swift and Barney Stinson.

My 19 for 2019 list

I've been a big fan of self help author Gretchen Rubin for a few years and last year in the podcast she co-hosts with her sister Elizabeth Craft, they introduced an idea that really caught my mind. They discussed New Years Eve resolutions and how most people struggle to keep up with them because they're too vague, like losing weigh, exercise, read more, etc. For 2018, they decided to choose 18 goals that were actually achievable, concrete and fun, like visit Disneyland, have a dinner party, plan a trip with a friend... I found I so inspiring that I created my own list for 2018. I accomplished pretty much half of that list and I intend to do better this year. I think the reason I only went half way through my list last year is because they weren't all specific and detailed enough, which is something I've tried to remedy to in 2019. My list encompasses a mix of travel, self-care, blogging, financial and leisure goals. And I hope I can come back to it in December having accomplished most of them.

My favorite lip glosses

Dior, lip maximizer, catrice, essence, nyx, fenty beauty, gloss bomb, fussy

Usually a matte lip aficionado, I've recently found gloss formulas that are perfect for every day and that I can't stop wearing.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fussy: This gloss lives in my hand bag. It feels super moisturizing on the lips and I can apply it without a mirror. This sheer pink nude shade goes with everything and it is absolutely foolproof.

Essence Shine Sine Shine gloss in Happiness in a bottle (07): Isn't that the cutest shade name ever?  This neutral gloss is quite pigmented, super versatile and it doesn't feel sticky at all. What is more, it is a total steal! You can't go wrong!

Catrice Generation Plump and Shine gloss in Nude Sapphire (70): Very similar to the Essence one with a more plumping effect (without the sting). Wear over a lipliner for the perfect nude lip. I love applying it over a bold lipstick or lip stain to soften the color.

Dior Lip Maximizer in Pink: I've been eyeing this product for a while as I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to spend so much on a gloss that was pretty much clear and that could potentially sting. I'm happy to report there was no stinging and that it makes you lips nice and shiny, while being really comfortable to wear. (P.S: If you're looking for the ultimate luxury lip combo try pairing with Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Pillow Talk.)

Nyx #This Is Everything lip oil in Sheer Blush and Sheer Berry: Not exactly a lip gloss, but a nice and moisturizing lip product that is slightly tinted and great for everyday wear. My go-to product when I don't have time to throw on lipstick because I spend too much time perfecting my eyeliner.

5 new liquid lipsticks

Since liquid lipsticks started being super hyped, I've tried a lot of them and have been disappointed on many occasions. Most are way to dry and start looking thick and crusty after a couple of hours, not to mention their tendency to crumble off your lips in a very inelegant way. I almost vowed to stop buying liquid lips and focus on old school bullet lipsticks, but the makeup addict in me just can't stop from trying new formulas! I can't be too mad, considering that I've discovered some terrific products, some of which are total steals!

- Essence Color Boost Mad About Matte Liquid Lipstick: These are a total steal! I wasn't expecting much from them, but they are good! The formula is very thin and liquidy. They're not drying, they don't look cakey, they don't crumble. They're honestly a lot better than some of the high end liquid lipsticks I've tried (i.e. Mac Retro Matte and Urban Decay Vice).

wanna play, dusty romance
- Manhattan Stay Satin Liquid Lip Color  The shade "inspired" hasn't left my handbag since I've bought it. As the name suggests, they're not completely matte, which makes them so much more comfortable. The dark plum shade is a bit patchy, but nothing that a second layer can't fix.

inspired, flirty, rebellious, in love

- Covergirl Melting Pout Matte: Another proof that the drugstore is killing it lipstick-wise. These are comfortable and they wear nicely (no crumbs in sight). The shade "Coral Chronicles" is divine!

Coral chronicles, secret, all nighter

- Nabla Dreamy Matte Liquid Lipstick: The formula is very thin when you apply it and it sets to a super matte finish. I have the shade "Alter ego" which is gorgeous, but I'm not a fan of the formula. I found it too dry and I had to dab lip balm on top to keep it comfortable. It is useful to line your lips first with the darker shades, as it is the kind of formula that works best when only a thin layer is applied. This is my least favorite formula in this selection. However, the shade I have is so beautiful that I will probably keep wearing it with a balm or gloss on top. Perfect for a night out!

- Sigma Liquid Lipstick in Venom: Part of their Venom collection, this liquid lipstick has a thick, whipped texture upon application. It is a deep blueish red that looks like velvet once it has set. It is definitely long lasting. However, you might want to prep your lips with a nice dose of lip balm, as this formula gets a bit dry after a few hours. I haven't worn it long enough, but I have a feeling it might start to crumble.

Alter ego, venom

Do you have a favorite liquid lipstick ? I'd love to know!
